Intermediate rock climbing course

 

Level 1: Transition from indoors to outdoors

This 5-day course is a great opportunity to build up your confidence in rock climbing. It is ideal for all indoor climbers but also for climbers that tried outdoors a few times and would like to create a solid experience outdoors and become autonomous and confident. Ideal is to have a minimum of 5a top-rope or leading. Taking this course with a qualified instructor will help you to create a solid outdoor experience outdoors and beginning your outdoor climbing experience by building up safe habits and developing your skills on the correct direction .

Day 1: Warm up& Diagnostic and observation of the participants while climbing to identify weakness and strong points of each climber. Climbing mostly on top rope depending on the level and experience of the participants.

Day 2: After the first day assessment and understanding where you are. On day 2 we are focused on technique and giving tips on individual level depending on weakness.For example footwork technique and balance fundamental techniques,body positioning on different angles such as slabs, steep, vertical climbs, tuffa climbing technique.

Day 3: Tools on how to read the rock, understanding the different rock features- differences from indoors.

Day 4: Rest day – free day with many: scuba diving, snorkeling with dolphins, botanic walk, yoga (not included to the price)

Day 5: Working on leading and techniques/strategies to maintain concentration while leading and climbing.

Day 6: Introduction to onsight climbing

A climbing day is around 7 hours, starting time depends on the season. A selection of the best climbing sectors and climbing routes are chosen very careful for every individual at each course. Tania is a certified climbing instructor (French national diploma) and has been climbing on Kalymnos more than 15 years and it is her playground to share with you.

Please keep in mind that the schedule might slightly change and adapt on the needs of the participant and on the weather. The coach can judge and adapt the schedule for the benefit of all. Individual advises and customized requests are possible while the training. Briefings are followed by the end of each climbing coaching day having the chance to assess feedback.

What to bring: All climbing gear is included and provided by our school. However bring comfortable clothes and hiking/running shoes, a small backpack, rock climbing shoes (possible to rent or buy from local climbing shops)

Days of trip: 6 days ( 5 full climbing days and one rest day)

Maximum number of participants: 6 participants (normally groups are between 2 to 4 climbers)

Minimum number of participants: 2 participants

Price: € 585 per person

Details: To confirm/book a place a prior 20% (deposit) is needed online. Last minute bookings are accepted only if there is availability

Level 2: Improve your lead climbing

This course will work as injection to boost your confidence and become a more autonomous lead climber. Kalymnos is an ideal climbing destination for lead climbing as the set up is very safe. This is course is ideal for any climber that feels that there is something keeping them back from their leading climbing.

After this course you feel more motivated to lead and being able to master your fear and knowing better your climbing abilities. This course will also suite to climbers that had a long break and want to get back into climbing and boost up their confidence.

Day 1: Diagnostic and observation of participants while climbing to identify weakness and strong points of each climber. Climbing a few top rope routes depending on the level and experience of the participants. Introduction to lead climbing.

Day 2: . Leading progressively on the comfort zone. Learning tools and working on techniques and strategies to develop a safe leading climb . Refresh leading techniques (clipping , clipping positioning, resting) on the comfort zone. Review safety (belay lead climbing)

Day 3: Working on footwork technique and how to move efficiently on the rock as a tool to develop a solid leading climbing technique.Combining technique and concentration to solidify lead climbing.

Day 4: Rest day – free day with many: scuba diving, snorkeling with dolphins, botanic walk, yoga (not included to the price)

Day 5: Leading on the uncomfort zone . Mental tactics to maintain concentration and body awareness tools to lead reducing stress and deal with uncomfortable thoughts.

Day 6: Introduction to redpoint

Level 3: Improving climbing skills

This course is ideal for climbers that wants to improve their technique. Tania will work with you individually to help you build up your confidence and improve your climbing skills and have a lot of fun on the number one climbing destination all over the world. If you feel that you have been climbing long time but you are not improving or you are not aware of your climbing style you have to join this course. This course is an opportunity to be observed and asses your technique and initiate new habits and learn new tools that will build up your body awareness and allow you to develop your climbing skills

Day to day

Day 1: Warm up Preparation & Diagnostic and observation of participants while climbing to identify weakness and strong points of each climber. Climbing mostly either on top rope or leading depending on the level and experience of the participants.

Day 2: After the first day assessment and understanding where you are. On day 2 we are focused on climbing technique on an individual level. You will receive tips on your technique and specific exercises to practice. We will work on footwork technique and balance fundamental techniques,body positioning on different angles such as slabs, steep, vertical climbs, tuffa climbing technique.

Day 3: More climbing and technique on different styles of climbing to practice and apply tools!

Day 4: Rest day – free day with many: scuba diving, snorkeling with dolphins, botanic walk, yoga (not included to the price)

Day 5: Developing muscle memory! Practice, practice, practice more climbing with individual coaching and corrections on technique.

Day 6: Introduction to onsight, and apply technique tools on more challenging routes .
